Prisca Taruffi, an Italian driver, was born in Rome in 1959.

Prisca is the daughter of the legendary F1 driver Piero Taruffi, the last winner of the 1957 Mille Miglia with his 315s Ferrari.

Following his footsteps, Prisca found the way to motoring competition, against the will of her father. Her debut in the motorsport took place at the age of 23 in Vallelunga circuit, competing in the challenging called Renault 5 Trophy.

Soon after, Prisca began to race rallies, driving different cars such as Citroen, Lancia 4wd and Ford, achieving good results.

In 1989 with a Ford Sierra Cosworth gr.A, Prisca became Italian female Champion and European Vice Champion; she also classified 3rd in the Italian Championship and achieve the Gold Medal at the famous “Autosprint Helmets”.

In 1990, Prisca went back to the circuit, racing in Gran Tourism Championship with Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Porsche and the Ford official Team with a Ford Sierra 4×4

In 2003, Prisca took part in the Carrera Panamericana with Alfa Romeo “Il Portello” team, with Clay Regazzoni and Arturo Merzario. Driving a Giulietta Sprint, she won her class, which was an important tribute to her father Piero, called by Mexicans “The Silver Fox”, because of his white hairs, and for his skillful racing strategy. His father took part in the same race from 1950 to 1954, winning the 1951 edition with a Ferrari 2500cc.

Motorsport is not only Prisca’s passion, but also a part of her professional life.

Since 1985, Prisca worked for many years with BMW for security Drive Academy as teacher and driving tester. Later she became the General Manager of “Progetto Guida Sicura”, the safe driving school set in Vallelunga circuit. And then became the Technical Director of Seat Ibiza Driving School.

In the same time, she became a freelance journalist and for more then 10 years, she was the well-known female face of the RAI 1 TV program “Pole Position”

The last five years of her racing career, Prisca raced in Tout Terrain and African Rally Raid such as Pharaons Rally (Egypt),  Rally des Gazelles (Marocco) and  Desert Challenge Dubai (Emirates) racing with different cars and prototypes such as Fornasari, Nissan Pick up 3.000 v6, Mitsubishi Pajero 3200 TD.

Her most exciting experience occurred in May 2007, when for the fiftieth  anniversary of his father last victory, Prisca participated at the Mille Miglia, driving the same Ferrari 315s her father drove to win the last edition in 1957. She is also honorary member of Mille Miglia Club and honorary athlete for Motorsport and Golf, thanks to the Lady Senior Italian Championship victory in 2010.

Last but not least, since 2017, in memory of her father, Prisca held the “Volpe Argentata Event”, a combination of an exciting golf ProAm and Concours d’Elegance for historical cars. At the moment, this marvelous event is held in the prestigious location of Golf La Montecchia (Padova) with the participation of sport celebrities, honor guests and media partners.

Undoubtedly, Motorsport continues to be her forever passion and profession!
